Early Postcard Exhibit at the University of Maryland Documents the Rise of Leisure
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The National Trust for Historic Preservation Library Collection is featuring a new exhibit in the Hornbake Library's Maryland Room Gallery. The exhibit - called "Greetings from Vacationland: Early Postcards and the Rise of Leisure in the United States, 1890-1920" - offers a glimpse into the past through some of the most unlikely of windows...Postcards. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Hours are (except as noted) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. During the academic year, the Maryland Room Gallery also stays open until 8 PM on Wednesdays and from 1 PM to 6 PM on Sundays.
The exhibit will be displayed through July 14, 2011. The entire collection is also available to the public for research (see the link below).
