"Thin-Film Deposition"
or "How to Develop the Next Generation of Video Games"

Meet Massimiliano Ferrucci - graduate, Walt Whitman High School, Bethesda, MD

Why he studies physics: "Physics makes sense. It's hard, but when the problem is solved, the whole world is that much clearer. I find it very interesting to work with the different situations that we are given in class. I am also very fond of mathematics. There is no better feeling than when things work out and answers are right. I feel that the logic and the constancy that is physics brings equilibrium to all the emotion and inconstancy that is life."

How he got started on his research: "I spoke with my advisor about research opportunities on campus. He referred me to Dr. Takeuchi, with whom I spoke soon after. I loved the lab, I loved my tasks, and most of all I love the people I work with. I look forward to finishing this semester so I can work full-time with such wonderful people."

His favorite video game: "I used to be a fanatic of video games. Now that I am in university I don't find the time to play them as much. This doesn't stop me from having a favorite one, though: Super Mario World on Super Nintendo."

What he hopes to do in the future:"I hope to be the best in doing what I like. There are a lot of fields of work that I haven't yet explored, so I still can't say exactly what I hope to do. Rest assured that, whatever that will be, I will be passionate about it."
