University Showcases Bioscience Advances

WHAT: Bioscience Research and Technology Day

WHEN: Tuesday, November 13, 2007

WHERE: University of Maryland , College Park , Stamp Student Union

BACKGROUND:
The annual University of Maryland Bioscience Research & Technology Review Day features research talks, presentations, mini-symposia and demonstrations by university scientists. The program provides a unique opportunity for executives and professionals in industry and government to discover the most recent advances in bioscience at the University of Maryland; promote the potential for academic-industry-government collaboration; meet University scientists and interact with graduate student researchers; network with colleagues who share an interest in the promotion of bioscience and the bioscience industry; and recruit employees and investigate job opportunities.

Highlights include:

  • Special symposia on topics from nano-biotechnology to climate change
  • Workshops on writing fundable research proposals and transferring technology from the lab to the marketplace
  • Career & internship fair
  • Professor Venture Fair - Professors and inventors will pitch their innovations to local venture capitalists who will select the "Best Inventor Pitch for Bioscience Day 2007."
