Hurricane Wind Tunnel Media Day Announced

 
  Reporting from inside UM's wind tunnel
WHAT:
The University of Maryland will once again host a Hurricane Wind Tunnel Media Day on Friday, July 17, 2009. Members of the media will have the opportunity to stand in the wind tunnel and experience winds up to 115 mph. The university provides members of the media access to the Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel just once a year -- during hurricane season.

Media must book an appointment by contacting Beth Cavanaugh at 301-405-4625 or bcavana@umd.edu. The Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel, in the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering, is one of the busiest wind tunnels in the country and is booked months in advance for research activity.

WHO:
Wind and wind tunnel experts, as well as scientists who can talk about hurricanes and hurricane formation, including the latest research looking at the impact of climate change on hurricane frequency and intensity.
