  • Black Issues In Higher Education ranked the university 12th in graduating black males with baccalaureate degrees in all disciplines (224). (Maryland is second among non-historically black schools.) Maryland is 23rd in black male undergraduate enrollment figures (1,463).

Wall Street Journal
  • The Wall Street Journal ranked the Smith School of Business
    No. 13 among the world's business schools. Maryland is the topped ranked school in the Mid-Atlantic region (Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia). In separate categories, Smith was also:

    • No. 5 among graduate programs at public universities.
      No other public university in the Northeast or Mid Atlantic states was in the top 10.
    • No. 8 among schools with less than 500 students.
    • No. 5 in a "hidden gems" category (less-heralded schools with great students).
    • No. 8 for student entrepreneurial skills.

  • According to published figures taken from Scholastic Aptitude Test applications reflecting where prospective students want their SAT scores sent, the unversity was ranked No. 9 in popularity among black men.

  • The Financial Times of London ranked the Smith School of Business No. 23 among the world's business schools. In separate categories, Smith was also:

  • In the second Black Enterprise magazine ranking of the top 50 colleges and universities for African Americans, the university is ranked No. 33.

  • Terrapin athletics finished 40th in the nation in the Sears Cup standings (a measurement of excellence over a broad range of collegiate sports).
