Future Homeland Security Needs: Will We Be Ready?
These University of Maryland experts are available to discuss future U.S. homeland security needs, as well as the current status of homeland security, national security implications of the Katrina disaster response and the effects of national security reorganization.
Among future security needs:
Training of intelligence analysts to meet expected shortages and to create a culture that will help overcome barriers to inter-agency sharing of intelligence (see Nolte and Gansler below)
Developing new technology to improve port security (Lucyshyn and Gabriel)
Developing better understanding of terrorist psychology and organization (see LaFree and Kruglanski below)
Facing Nuclear and Bioterrror Threats (see Steinbruner, Gallagher, Leitenberg below)
The experts may be contacted directly (see alphabetically listed entries below). Or contact Neil Tickner in media relations: 301-405-4622; 301-257-0073 (after-hours); ntickner@umd.edu.
