Dr. Tirrell-Corbin currently serves as the Director of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in the Department of Human Development. In addition to teaching and service, she co-developed the ECE teacher education curriculum and developed the ECE performance based assessment. Dr. Tirrell-Corbin's research stems from her work in Professional Development Schools, which allowed her to analyze student achievement in PDSs, and more recently to study the impact of recursive and sustained inquiry around issues of family involvement and culture.
In addition to 23 years experience in teacher education, she has also worked in the field of parent education for the last 20 years having served as a curriculum developer, nation-wide facilitator, content consultant for two PBS television shows and the founder and director of a parent resource center.
Dr. Tirrell-Corbin is best known for her work in the areas of teacher education, family involvement and data driven instruction based on disaggregated, formative assessment data.
