Dick Clark

Entertainer Dick Clark - best known for both his American Bandstand show and New Year's Eve TV broadcasts - has died at 82. The University of Maryland's Library of American Broadcasting has a wealth of photos of Clark throughout his career and information on his role in the Payola scandal of the 1950s and 60s, Bio files, many books and more. Gomery is the Resident Scholar at the Library of American Broadcasting at the University of Maryland. He is the author of 10 books and more than 600 articles covering the economics and history of the mass media. He has written for publications including the Baltimore Sun, Village Voice and Woodrow Wilson Quarterly.

Gomery is currently working on a number of books, including one about Country Western star Patsy Cline.His book, Captivating Channels: His latest book - a History of Broadcasting in the United States was published in 2006.
