Expertise Credentials:
Jeffrey Herf's newest book is "The Jewish Enemy: Nazi Propaganda During World War II and the Holocaust" which was published by Harvard University Press in spring 2006. His books include "Reactionary Modernism: Technology, Culture and Politics in Weimar and the Third Reich" (1984), "War By Other Means: Soviet Power, West German Resistance" and the Battle of the Euromissiles"(1991) and "Divided Memory: The Nazi Past in the Two Germanys"(1997).

His recent publications include commentary on the similarities and differences between Europe's 20th century experience of totalitarianism and current debates about terrorism and the war in Iraq. Divided Memory was awarded the Fraenkel Prize (Institute of Contemporary History and Wiener Library in London) and the George Lewis Beer Prize (American Historical Association).

Herf has been a regular book reviewer for The New Republic and to its' online website. His political commentary has also appeared in major German newspapers. A scholarly essay on Nazi propaganda and the Jews will be published in Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Spring 2005.
