Stem Cell Experts

A federal judge has issued an injunction banning taxpayer-funded research using human embryonic stem cells. The Justice Department says it will appeal the decision. The injunction was issued just months after President Obama broadened a Bush Administration executive order related to stem cell research. The Obama order says it would still be illegal to fund the creation of new stem-cell lines, which involves destroying embryos, but says the government could award grants to researchers doing work on lines created by privately funded scientists practicing strict ethical standards.

The University of Maryland has a number of experts across campus to are conducting stem cell research or who can talk to the politics and ethics involved.
