Food Safety and the University of Maryland

  • The University of Maryland is home to the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (JIFSAN), a research and communication partnership with the Food and Drug Administration.

  • Several University of Maryland faculty are internationally recognized experts in food safety and policy issues.

  • The University of Maryland Center for Agricultural and Natural Resource Policy studies the impact of agricultural and environmental policy on natural resources and examines the latest local and national issues.

  • The University of Maryland branch of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine has a fellowship for graduate students to explore their role in developing food safety science and policy.
