Expertise -
American children's use of time
- including estimates of children's media, studying, and sports participation time as well as estimates of time children spend with their mothers and fathers; work and family, research methods, fathers and fathering, family policy,
health disparities in childhood obesity.
Credentials - the author of four books and more than 75 articles and book chapters. Her more recent work includes What happens during the school day?: Time diaries from a national sample of elementary school teachers. She has also written Children at the Millennium: Where Have We Come From, Where Are We Going? and Did Welfare Reform Work? Prof. Hofferth has testified a number of times before Congress.

Bill Holliday - professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, University of Maryland
Expertise - helping college students do a better job of note taking and improve their study habits to increase success, the use of tutors, helping teachers find the best ways to teach science, using motivational strategies to incorporate reading and writing into science classrooms.
Credentials - former president of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching; author of numerous research and feature articles on ways to improve learning, and the best way to use science textbooks.
