Dr. Tablante implements an Extension and applied research program that focuses on improving poultry health and production through biosecurity and disease prevention. His present duties involve providing technical assistance and advice on preventive poultry health practices; participating in local, regional, national, and international poultry health and production meetings; providing diagnostic services and follow-up field investigations of poultry disease outbreaks; training interns, residents, and other veterinary students in poultry medicine; and developing and presenting educational materials and programs to various sectors of the poultry industry. He is currently conducting research on the pathogenesis and recurrence of Infectious Laryngotracheitis on the Delmarva peninsula. He is also collaborating with poultry Extension colleagues in conducting small poultry flock biosecurity workshops throughout Maryland. Internationally, he has been serving as a technical advisor an!d trainer on Avian Influenza prevention and control in developing countries.
