Faculty assignment as a Regional Extension Specialist, University of Maryland Extension with office at the Wye Research and Education Center in Queenstown, with 36 years experience in outreach education. Member of the Maryland Aquaculture Coordinating Council (of MDA), including two terms as Chairman; member of the Maryland Oyster Advisory Commission (of DNR). Major program efforts include a three-year funded project to develop education and training programs for shellfish producers and watermen wishing to transition to aquaculture. This will include developing training modules in both print and electronic media and local training programs. Other program areas currently or recently include commercial production of finfish in extensive and intensive systems; soft crab production in recirculating aquaculture systems; innovative management of stormwater retention ponds; and community pond management. Also provide education and training programs in aquatic weed control and annual update training for Pesticide Applicators with Category V Aquatic certification. Member of the University of Maryland Diving Control Board which oversees certification and training of scientific divers at the institution.
