Major Extension Responsibilities: " Lead and administer University of Maryland Extension (UME) which consists of 150 faculty members and 175 support staff physically distributed on UM campus in College Park, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 23 county offices, Baltimore City and four regional centers. Programmatic areas include 4-H youth development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture and Sea Grant Extension. " Establish and nurture statewide connections with local and state government, state and federal agencies, and key stakeholders. Lead communication efforts toward building a strong brand value for UME.
Research Interests: " Teaching and learning in nonformal extension education that focuses upon clientele impact and outcomes. International extension systems, internationalizing extension, effective extension methodologies, and extension administration and supervision. International work has included Poland, Honduras, Trinidad, Costa Rica, Ireland, Serbia, Kenya and Mexico.
Significant Accomplishments: " Authored or coauthored 27 refereed journal articles; 1 book and 2 book chapters authored; over 45 papers in conference proceedings; and, over 18 Extension publications. " Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator of grants totally over $1.6 million in support of research, teaching and Cooperative Extension programs. " Advised 66 Doctoral and Masters graduate students as chair or committee member.
Selected Awards and Honors: " John and Martha Woeste Professional Recognition Award for UF Extension Faculty; 2002. " UF, Department of Agricultural Education and Communication; Outstanding Teaching Awards: 2002, 2003, 2004. " UF, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; Graduate Teacher/Advisor of the Year; 2004. " North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA); Teacher Fellow Award; 2005. " Southern Region American Association of Agricultural Education. Outstanding Young Agricultural Education Award; 2006.
