Maryland Day Highlights:
Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream
By Danielle Earls
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream... for liquid nitrogen? That's right! This year's Maryland Day will feature edible ice cream made from liquid nitrogen. This fascinating ice cream concoction combines elements from the periodic table with cream and sugar to produce a deliciously scientific treat. Come try ice cream prepared the only way a science major knows how. Demonstrations and samples will be available on the front lawn of the Physics Building between 11:30am and 1:30pm.
If liquid nitrogen ice cream doesn't tempt your taste buds, free samples of Maryland ice cream will be given away at the Animal Sciences Courtyard from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. In addition, the Dairy, adjacent to the Visitor's Center on Route 1, will be open all day April 29 to serve all flavors of Maryland 's ice cream.
