* Family Involvement in Schools - A study of how both teachers and parents view parent involvement and how it contributes to children's achievement by considering the moderating influences of children's and teachers' efficacy.
* Healthy Attachment Promotion for Parents and Infants: Fathers Study - The goals of this project are: (1) to understand the nature, frequency, and type of father-child interactions in a very disadvantaged sample of families whose children (0-36 months) are enrolled in an EHS program; (2) to understand how mother-father relationships influence mother-child and father-child interactions at present and over time; and (3) to understand how fathers' and mothers' involvement influence the development of children during their early years.
* Teen mothers: Parenting and Children's Development - A study of teen mothers enrolled in Early Head Start. The goals of this study are: 1) to describe how teen mothers parent. 2) to understand the mechanism by which teen parenting influences child outcomes, and 3) to understand racial and ethic differences in teen mothers.
* Intensive Qualitative Study of Fathers - An intese study of fathers' experiences as parents, of their relationship with their partners, their perception of their roles as fathers, and the role they play in their children's lilves.

Maryland's Family Studies Department (Health and Human Performance) is activly involved in research about fathers and their families. Researchers are currently working on projects that include:
* Dads Make a Difference: Evaluation of a Teen Peer Trainer Program (Prof. Elaine Anderson)
* Family Processes, Intergenerational Learning, and Involved Fathering (Prof. Sandra Hofferth)
* Parenting the First Year (Prof. Susan Walker)
* Patterns of Father Involvement in Low Income Families (Prof. Kevin Roy)

The Maryland Population Research Center (MPRC) is a multidisciplinary center dedicated to population-related research and housed in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) at the University of Maryland. Faculty Associates include many of the Fatherhood Experts you'll find in our online database. The MPRC is providing support for the National Fatherhood Forum.

The Consortium is an association of academic units and individual faculty on the University of Maryland campus whose mission is to promote, advance, and conduct research, scholarship, and faculty development that examines the intersections of race, gender, and ethnicity with other dimensions of difference.
